Speaker of Yemeni Parliament reminds international community of illegitimacy of 'parliament members' who serve Saudi coalition

[HODHODYEMENNEWS] The Speaker of the Parliament, Yahya Ali al-Ra’i, on Tuesday condemned the signing of a cooperation protocol by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with impersonators of the Yemen

In a letter he addressed to the IPU’s Secretary-General, Martin Chungong, al-Ra’i clarified that the Parliament of the Republic of Yemen had previously revoked the membership of those impersonating the Yemeni parliament, and they no longer have any legitimate or constitutional status linking them to the Yemeni people, because of their betrayal of the homeland and bringing aggression against it.

He pointed out that the Saudi-led aggression coalition and its mercenaries had destroyed the capabilities and infrastructure of the Yemeni people, and used internationally prohibited weapons to bomb schools, mosques, markets, funerals, wedding halls, drinking water wells, roads, bridges, hospitals and homes.

The Parliament Speaker pointed out that the signing of this protocol reflects the double standards despite the knowledge of IPU that the Parliament in the Republic of Yemen holds its sessions permanently at its constitutional headquarters in the capital, Sana’a, and so it is concerned with signing such protocols, as it is the legitimate and constitutional representative of the Yemeni people.

"It suffices for us to be proud that we are steadfast on our land, defend our cause, and derive our legitimacy from our steadfast people in the face of brutal aggression and unjust siege," al-Ra’i said.

Al-Ra’i wondered, "Since when do the elected parliamentary bodies and unions deal with impersonators and those fleeing their homelands instead of the elected official authorities and bodies?"
