#6  This is a cosmetic move to assuage parts of Africa and Middle East that is angry about rising food prices.

The WaPo source article: U.S. privately asks Ukraine to show it’s open to negotiate with Russia
The encouragement is aimed not at pushing Ukraine to the negotiating table, but ensuring it maintains a moral high ground in the eyes of its international backers

The Russians are welcome to leave at any time. Cheaper food will come when the Russians no longer occupy and shell the farmland, steal the harvest or threaten food laden ships.

Putin has signaled a willingness to negotiate (i.e. freeze the front lines, a non-starter) since the Ukrainians have gone on the offensive and taking back territory.

That's what I understood; no talks until Putin is gone.
No condition was set on walking out or feet first. Returning kidnapped Ukrainians, esp children, will be another big item.

So I guess -technically-

IIRC, it was during the episode of Assassinate Putin, so negotiation tactic and/or underhand support of such action?

#4  "Ukraine has never refused to negotiate.

As I understand, some months back Zelensky proposed a bill which was subsequently passed by the Ukr legislature that there would be no negotiations with the current Russian government.

#3  Ukraine says it never refused to negotiate with Russia, wants talks with Putin successor

Reminds me of a little chihuahua barking at the FedEx delivery guy. He's very brave as long as his owner is there to back him up.

#2  T-Shirt Man can tell the time.

Just 11 more hours, and the Great Ukraine Grift comes to an end.

Tick tock
