It's Official: Q2 GDP Number Shows the US Is in a Recession |
2022-09-30 |
[Red State] It was only a matter of time before the numbers bore out what the American people were already feeling in their pocketbooks and telling pollsters back in June. In the latest review of economic data on Thursday, meant to take the temperature of the U.S. gross domestic product for the second quarter of 2022, the U.S. economy has shrunk for the second consecutive quarter. That’s traditionally marked the beginning of a recession. |

#8 I was wayyyy wrong on the GDP-Now for Q3 It came in at +2.4 because of a mini boom in net exports and a smaller loss than anticipated in private domestic investment. |

#1 Q3 ends today The final GDP-Now estimate for Q3 of 2022 will come from the Atlanta Fed later today. Probably will be somewhere between +0.3 and -0.3. Toward end of Oct the first post Q estimate of Q3 will come out. The Sept CPI will come out a week or so before that. Since April 2021, income gains have been less than inflation. In both Q1 and Q2 of 2022, labor productivity declined. |
