#15  Once LRSO is available, the rotary dispenser in a B-52 will make it a very dangerous aircraft.

Not that it isn't already.

#14  #10 the 52 is still a usable air frame to deliver ordnance in a stand-off profile and possible anti-ship/sub missions.

#12  B-21 is intended to allow retirement of all B-52 and B-1 in service. Assuming they can get to the desired 100 planes or more.

#11  Is the B-21 supposed to replace the B-52 fleet or supplement it?

I feel some will agree the B-52has outlived its Nuclear use in this Hypersonic missile age.

It does a pretty good job of carpet bombing, against low tech enemy combatants, tho.

Maybe a KISS solution of effective neutralization weapons produced in high numbers might be a better way to go?

#9  They'll have Nacelles at this rate.

#8  First DC-3 flight, December 17, 1935. We might make the centennial on that one.

#7  I'd like to be around when the "BUFFS" celebrate their bicentennial!

#6  I'm about the same age as the B52 and wish that I could get a multi million dollar rebuild.

Question: Since it's a DEFCON 1 Go To War vital weapon, will the engines and parts used be made and kept here in Indianapolis, IN? Or will DC Swamp allow them to farm them out to its 8 ASIAN manufacturing locations?

Also, since Old school, has worked for 50+ years.
I have to question the implementing of a new technology to basically a 60-year-old airframe design that has undergone numerous changes.

WHY?
Having worked as backup IT Tech on the KC-130 Fuel Tanker Simulator @ SJ AFB, NC. I got to look at a lot of Declassified crash data and noticed the B-52 1950-70's models had an unusual number of right wing issues, leaks, detachments etc. causing a number of crashes. Understanding the BUF has had many upgrades over its life span. Will these new engines place a even greater strain on the Wing/Fuel Tank structure?

#3  Looks are not the BUFF's long suit. The new engines should make it better at what it's already really good at.

#2  ....I'm sorry, but it won't be the same without the sound of those TF-33s.

#1  At 60 miles an hour the loudest noise in this new Rolls-Royce comes from the electric clock.
