2022-09-27
  • New York City has seen 13,000 mainly Latino migrants arrive from Texas since the Texan governor began bussing them from the border last month

  • Eric Adams, the mayor of New York, last week announced he was opening two tented camps for them, with the aim being they stay only 96 hours

  • The two massive tents - one on Orchard Beach in the Bronx, the other at an as-yet undetermined location - are in addition to 6,000 hotel rooms

  • On Monday, construction workers were seen beginning building the tents to house the migrants

  • Vanessa Gibson, Bronx borough president, said she was worried the location of the tent in her borough was not ideal, pointing out it floods
