Nurses called in to work Minnesota hospitals during largest US healthcare strike ever can make up to $8,000 for just FIVE DAYS of work
2022-09-16
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The unions know President Biden will put his thumb on the scales for them.
  • Minnesota's nurses on Monday began a three-day strike in protest at pay and staffing shortages, after discussions begun in March broke down

  • An estimated 15,000 nurses are on strike, demanding a 30 percent pay rise over three years

  • Hospitals are bussing nurses in to work instead of the striking employees: recruiters are advertising rates of $8,000 for five days work

  • Nursing unions say the replacement nurses are not able to work as efficiently or well as those on strike; hospitals say they are qualified and able

#4  Do you need to have a nursing license in Minnesota? If not they are probably tapping a small pool of willing nurses since they'd probably have to work alongside the strikers at some point.

#3  ^6 an unfortunate truth but fewer visits to medical results in fewer deaths. This was tracked at one time but was known to myself many years ago.

#2  So much for "affordable medicine".

#1  We have nurses going there now for the money. Seems like this is strike time of the year. Nursing shortages here also. Brutal work schedules. One worked 80 hours and was asked to stay over but foot pain prevented her. She went home and looked at her foot and the bottom was black. She goes to her doctor and she is sent to the hospital. While in hospital work called as to when she could return. She was discharged to rehab stay in Nursing home. Might lose her foot. 30 years in Nursing and now this. She just turned 50 years old.
