Investigation is launched into brutal Navy SEALs training program after death of recruit who took steroids: Staff 'punched and kicked' recruits after new commander made course even tougher
2022-09-11
  • Outgoing vice chief of naval operations, Adm. William K Lescher, ordered an investigation into the selection course for Navy SEALS on August 31

  • He asked investigators to focus on safety measures, the qualifications of instructors and medical personnel and its drug testing policy

  • Lescher also asked them to find what, if anything, had changed after Kyle Mullen, 24, died just hours after completing the Hell Week part of the course

  • Mullen died of bacterial pneumonia, which drowned him in his own bodily fluids

  • He and 40 of his classmates were later found to have been taking steroids to get through the course

  • Sailors say it has only gotten worse since former SEAL Team Six commander Capt. Bradley Geary was put in charge and made his friends instructors

#7  ...Fastest way around part of this is to do IMMEDIATE UA on everybody who's made it through Hell Week. Once a few guys not only lose everything they've worked for, but get thrown out, that crap will stop PDQ.

SEAL training is a legendary nightmare, because it HAS to be. That said, these guys ain't saints.

#6   convicted felon Dick Marcinko

Some say Marcinko's downfall was his alignment with Ace Lyons.

#4   Capt. Bradley Geary was put in charge and made his friends instructors

Returning to the model of convicted felon Dick Marcinko. Not good. Not good at all.

#3  No officer would want to be accused of making it easier (except maybe for women) and just keeping it the same is not putting his / her own imprimatur on the command.

So, of course, the answer is to make it more dangerous than it needs to be.

Given the job/missions they will be tasked with. Serious extreme Physical & Psycho testing is a must.

Does anyone think the "voluneers" for ST or the SFOD-D Q-course, DON'T already know that the qualifications and testing are all extremely Nut Bursting serious?
