#5  In the video the arty looks more like self-propelled artillery, like a tank. Would that change the order of landing at all?

#4  As I recall one of the problems at Omaha Beach was that the artillery was sent ashore long before it could be of any use. Not what the assault troops needed at that point in time.

#3  Arty is the last bit or combat power to come ashore in an amphibious assault. Whether SP or towed - very heavy, not vey mobile, and needy logistics trail w/fuel and ammo. Might be some small stuff in late waves but heavy/big guns come much much later. Taiwan is not an arty fight IMNSHO.

#1  PLZ-5s 155mm has range of 40k.
The Taiwan Strait is a 180k.
Perhaps the story is wrong or they have something with a much longer range.
Possibly these are to bombard Kinman or one of the close islands and claim a fairly easy victory to satisfy the Mob.
