Biden's student loan 'forgiveness' is just Joe sticking it to the little guy — again |
2022-08-26 |
[NYPOST] President Joe Biden![]() announced that up to $20,000 will be forgiven from federal student loans. AFP via Getty Images Team Biden’s student-loan "forgiveness" scheme is yet another example of a misguided and dangerous policy initiative masquerading as a public good — no surprise from an administration in which political missteps are the norm. The left is heralding the plan, which will "forgive" $10,000 for student-loan borrowers making $125,000 or less and $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients, as genuine assistance for millions of debtors. But it’s like a Band-Aid on a gunshot wound. It not only falls short of the hype but provides a false sense of financial relief, worsening an already deeply broken system. |

#7 Karine Jean-Pierre explains: CNN: “Is the White House going to release a cost estimate at some point?” BIDEN PRESS SECRETARY KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: “Yeah we’ve talked about that. Look, this is, this is something. What the other piece of this too is we're going to see.” So I think that's clear. |

#6 It is a policy that will alienate everyone but universities who are suffering from poor enrollment. Certainly, it will make all normal people mad. The crack heads who wasted money on worthless degrees will also be enraged that it only covers a portion of their bill. I think a year at Kent State is like $60K per year now. |

#5 $2 Trillion. My guess $600 Billion has it up for renewal in 4 years, natch. And will increase the cost of college, with devaluation, inflation, increased risk of debt default. |

#2 Even if he doesn't actually do it - And I think it's entirely possible he doesn't plan on actually doing it - he can claim he tried but was stopped by those evil Republicans and Trump. |
