Mar-a-Lago raid gave Trump a 10 Poll Bump UP |
2022-08-15 |
A well-earned Thank-You to the Dept Of and their Hand Picked Operatives. BTW: Trump should pick DeSantis as his VP running mate. [BusinessInsider] The Mar-a-Lago raid gave former President Donald Trump a 10-point boost over possible 2024 rival Gov. Ron DeSantis among Republican primary voters, further widening his already significant lead, according to a new poll. The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll was conducted on August 10 — after federal agents searched the Florida property on Monday, but before Friday's unsealing of the search warrant and property receipt revealed that the FBI seized 11 sets of classified documents. The poll found that 57% of registered voters would back Trump if he chose to run and if the Republican presidential primary were held that day. That's a four-point increase on the 53% who said they would vote for the former president last month, per the POLITICO/Morning Consul's July 15-17 National Tracking Poll. Meanwhile, DeSantis, who could be Trump's fiercest competition should they both choose to run, dropped from 23% to 17%. The events of this week, albeit without the revelations of the unsealed search warrant, gave Trump a 10-point boost over DeSantis. |

#9 It would be funny to see Trump never mention Cheney again like she was beneath his notice. Better chance of her winning than that happening. |

#2 So five years of media drum-beating has influenced the polls, I guess. |

#1 The Politico poll looked at broader questions as well, leading to this: More registered voters approve of Mar-a-Lago search than disapprove The results underscored continued partisan divisions surrounding the former president, even as more respondents supported Trump running for the Oval Office again in 2024 than supported Biden. Results varied widely by party: 69 percent of respondents who identified as Republicans thought the search was politically motivated, compared with 11 percent of Democrats. On the other side, 81 percent of those polled who identified themselves as Democrats saw the search as related to evidence of a crime, compared with 16 percent of Republicans. Independents were also more likely — by an 11-point margin — to say the search was due evidence Trump committed a crime than due to outside political motivation. |
