#14  Cesar Chavez was against illegal immigrants. He understood that excess labor drove down labor prices.

49 Pan - Worked SOTF & a JSOC location near there in late 80's to early 90's.

note: both locations are PD info now thanks to TIME Mag & CNN.

Back then, (30 years ago) they already had specially built training areas for this. So I find it odd they would be using cities now. Thus opening their HRT / Assault tactics and processes up to video collection, allowing others to develop counter action development.

#5  Bit disappointed in the headline. For 3/4 I thought, maybe, just maybe, the US was re-taking The Border.

#4  OK, so JSOC does these types of exercises annually. Mayors are reluctant to announce these events because it draws all the crazies in protests. The Military works with the local police, Sheriffs, FBI HRTs, etc... The cross training is significant. If they have an air asset the locals learn how to integrate into the action, same with command and control of the operation. And as far as scene control, tactical movements, planning, etc... this is invaluable to the locals. The other side is the PR side, the 911 center gets staffed up for the mission times. The press management is a big training event for locals as the press goes nuts, like the crazies. If the event goes off well the mayor will take credit for the inter agency win. If it goes bad the mayor can claim no knowledge.

#2  ...The Marines did one of these in Columbia a few years ago. They got a bigger audience than a University of South Carolina home football game.

#1  Josh Tovar, 19, told the San Antonio Express-News he felt his couch shake while he was playing the popular war game Call of Duty, which prompted him to go outside, only to notice two helicopters flying...
