[RIA Novosti] Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law supplementing the Criminal Code with an article on public calls for activities directed against the country's security. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Thus, criminal liability threatens persons who make public calls for activities directed against the security of Russia , as well as those who prevent the authorities from exercising their powers to ensure this security. The maximum penalty is up to four years in prison.
It will be clarified that the use of one's official position, as well as the media or the Internet, increases the maximum sentence to six years in prison, and when these actions are committed by an organized group of persons, up to seven years.
Thus, the Criminal Code is supplemented with the article "Repeated propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols, or paraphernalia or symbols of extremist organizations, or other paraphernalia or symbols, the promotion or public display of which is prohibited by federal laws", providing for a maximum penalty of up to four years in prison.
The law also provides for the amendment of the Criminal Code with an article “Violation of the rules for centralized management of technical means to counter threats to the stability, security and integrity of the functioning of the Internet information and telecommunications network and the public communications network on the territory of the Russian Federation”, which provides for a maximum penalty of up to three years in prison.
In addition, the Criminal Code is supplemented by the norm "Violation of requirements for the protection of state secrets", which introduces criminal liability for traveling abroad by a Russian citizen who was admitted or previously had access to state secrets, whose right to travel was obviously limited for him. This provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to three years.

Also, illegal movement or transfer of carriers containing state secrets outside Russia is punishable by imprisonment for up to four years.
In the article "Mercenary work" the sanctions are tightened and brought into line with the penalties for crimes similar in nature and degree of public danger.
