Holland On The Brink Of Civil War – The Dutch Have Had Enough
2022-07-07
[AndMagazine] One of the many assurances we are given by our corporate overlords and their minions in the liberal press is that we should be more like Europe. By that they mean we should accept a social welfare nanny state and surrender our rights to our betters in the elite. The Dutch don’t seem to have gotten that memo.

About a week ago the government of the Netherlands announced it was declaring war on the nation’s farmers. In order to reduce what it considers nitrogen pollution the government has adopted a policy of drastically reducing herds, forcing many farmers out of business and cutting back on meat, pork, poultry, and dairy products for human consumption. The government wants to eliminate one-third of Holland’s 50,000 farms by 2030.
Are they mad?? The world is facing famine as it is, between Russia invading the Ukraine and the drought in the Middle East, not to mention reduced production in the rest of the world because of the China-controlled fertilizer shortage, and the Netherlands government wants to shut down farms?
In response, all hell has broken loose.

Dutch farmers have blocked supermarkets, food distribution centers, and roads in protests this week. Supermarket shelves are bare throughout the Netherlands as food distribution has been brought to a standstill. Wednesday morning, farmers are expected to demonstrate at the Groningen Airport Elde, according to Dutch media. The farmers have been joined now by Dutch fishermen who are blockading ports in solidarity.

See? UN: Record 345 million people 'marching to the brink of starvation'
A new UN report on hunger shows that the number of acutely hungry worldwide is increasing as fuel and food prices soar. The war in Ukraine has intensified the crisis.

#18  Rumors of Italian farmers also rallying.

Of course, absolutely nobody wants to talk about Sri Lanka which is where this path will lead.

#17  More from Slenter Panda4300’s Deutsche Welle link:

The government has appointed an intermediary to lead talks between farmers' organizations and officials drawing up pollution reduction measures.

However, Prime Minister Mark Rutte has ruled out negotiating with farmers responsible for radical protests.

#16  "Are they mad?? "

No, they are green. Though that may be the same thing these days.

#15  Gouda cheese from Holland is good. Aged of course. Hope they get this figured out before I can't find it on the store shelves anymore. Last time I looked I couldn't find it.

#13  Remember when tractors were a symbol of freedom and resistance?

June was awesome.

*I saw something that those were no mere warning shots, but real bullets. I still have my hand on the salt, but its starting to look a bit spicy.

Yes, they are mad as a hatter.

#11  I have meetings most mornings with coworkers over there in the Netherlands and not a single one of them has mentioned anything. I assume a massive divide between the bike riding city-based technocrats and the farmers.

I also wonder with all the bad news that has happened in the last few years if most have just tuned out, deciding to be blissfully unaware rather than go nuts with what is happening.

#10  "How much effluent can you safely dump into the North Sea?" By 'effluent' we mean nitrates, phosphates and the like from fertilizers and animal / human excreta. Before you get Red Tides and the like...

The farmers want to farm and the Greens want all human effects to disappear returning the world to a utopian 'pre-human paradise. The Nomenklatura seem to feel they can always 'just import it' -- exporting the problems and Dutch jobs to the Third World. Sound familiar?

#9  Was on a bus tour in Holland a few weeks ago, and the tour guide said the Dutch were the most efficient farmers in earth, with some figures to back it up.

For a little country, with big cities, there was a LOT of farmland!

#7  Steps:

1) Eliminate "minister for nitrogen policy."
2) Eliminate gummint that has "ministry for nitrogen policy."

Rinse

#6   Last night protesters gathered outside the home of the minister for nitrogen policy, Christianne van der Wal, for the third time in a week. The group dumped a lorryload of manure on the minister’s doorstep and attacked a police car that was parked in the road.

#1  Funny thing - I have not seen squat on this in almost any MSM. I don't consume that much, but one would think this is newsworthy considering how much the Dutch actually export in terms of agricultural goods.
