Wisconsin governor vows to give doctors clemency if prosecuted under state abortion ban | |
2022-06-29 | |
Evers made the promise during a rally at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin convention on Saturday, a day after the Supreme Court's landmark decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Under the state's 1849 law, which was enacted over a century before Roe v. Wade and may now go back into effect, Wisconsin doctors are banned from performing abortions except when saving the life of the mother, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I don't think that a law that was written before the Civil War, or before women secured the right to vote, should be used to dictate these intimate decisions on reproductive health," Evers said. The refusal to accept the Supreme Court decision could eventually trigger a civil conflict. #1 Notice how quickly the governors of the Left are willing to rule by fiat and yet claim the 'other guys' are a threat to democracy. |
