Scientists may have identified a key biological marker in psychopaths |
2022-06-05 |
[News Jungle] Scientists may have discovered a biological way to detect this Difference between psychopaths and non-psychopaths. The biological marker is essentially a difference in the way certain parts of the brain form in psychopathic individuals. As a result of this research, they now believe that the size of a person’s striatum could be a psychopathic marker to identify those with psychopathic tendencies. Neuroscientists from three different universities discovered the psychopathic marker. They used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to look for markers in the brains of both psychopathic and non-psychopathic people. They published their findings on biological psychopathic markers in the Journal of Psychiatric Research back in March 2022. Essentially, they found that psychopaths had a 10 percent larger striatum than those in a control group of non-psychopaths |

#15 No, of course not. Genetics has nothing at all to do with anything. Move along please, nothing to see here. |

#8 ^ Sorry Mr B. but "Psychopathic individuals showed a 9.6% increase in striatum volumes". Such a small percentage would require further study for myself. Hardly a smoking gun; so to say, is not an example of prescient evidence in my humble opinion. OH, my I can see it now mass rapid testing with kits provided by China. Biden would go for that in a heart beat. WHO also if mass human sterilizations could be performed.Sorry , I seem to have wandered off into my rabbit hole. Scotty beam me back please. |

#3 Isn't this a form of "Phrenology" that Scotland Yard (criminolgy) and Nazi Germany (racism) and others (mental illness), have played with? It was the "accepted science" back in the early to mid 1800's. |

#1 More on striatum found here. "Results from recent imaging genetics studies suggest there may be a genetic basis to reward-related striatum activity that may increase the risk for impulsivity and reward dependency, such as that observed in psychopathy." A "genetic" component? I am shocked that this study is seeing the light of day. SHOCKED ! |
