Major Dmitry Mikhailov commanded the motorized rifle regiment entrusted to him during an offensive operation to liberate one of the settlements from Kiev militants. Under the personal leadership of Major Mikhailov, three units of the BTR-80, one T-72 tank and many foreign-made anti-tank systems were eliminated. After the liberation of the settlement, Mikhailov organized the defense of the occupied positions and repelled three attacks by Ukrainian nationalists who tried to return the settlement under their control.
Russian motorized infantry, operating under mortar fire from Kyiv militants, managed to counterattack the enemy, create conditions for the regiment's units to seize the initiative and deprive Ukrainian nationalists of the opportunity to continue the offensive. When holding the defense, no losses were allowed among the personnel of the motorized rifle regiment.
