Three Power Pylons Repair Time Takes Weeks
2022-05-25
It used to be the Taliban causing trouble for the Afghan government. Now, of course, the Taliban is the government, and they get to deal with the lack of power, the annoyed citizenry, and yet another expense their government cannot afford without generous and regular Western cash transfers.
[KhaamaPress] Unidentified individuals have blown up and demolished three electricity importing power pylons from Uzbekistan in Samangan province, according to local Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
officials.

According to the state-run Bakhtar News Agency, local Taliban officials said on Monday, May 23rd, that a landmine blast in Samangan entirely destroyed three electricity importing power pylons from Uzbekistan, which would take weeks to repair.

The substations’ demolition has cut off parts of Afghanistan, and Taliban officials report that a technical team has been assigned to repair them.

No group or individual has grabbed credit for the destruction of the power pylons, and the Taliban say they are investigating to identify and arrest those responsible.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
due to the damage of two power pylons in Salang, Kabul and 11 other provinces have been without electricity for almost three weeks.

Unknown individuals fully demolished the two substations, in Salang on April 30, and the power company has been unable to provide electricity to Kabul and neighboring provinces for the past 20 days.

The electricity company, also known as Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat 9DABS), had previously stated that each power pylon would cost $100,000 to repair.
