Russian aircraft bombed Turkish-backed opposition forces’ posts in Syria’s northwest.
2022-05-12

The Russian aircraft bombed on Wednesday the Ottoman Turkish-backed opposition forces’ posts, south of Idlib, northwest Syria.

A Russian warplane targeted the posts of the opposition in the vicinity of the town of Benin in the Zawiya Mountain , south of Idlib, with missiles, military sources in the opposition told North Press.

The bombing caused the uprooting of some trees and partially damaged the surrounding houses, according to the same sources.

The Russian raids coincided with artillery shelling by the government forces of the opposition factions’ posts in the towns of Kansafra and al-Bara, south of Idlib, the sources added.

Similarly, the opposition factions’ posts near the towns of Kafr Noran and Sheikh Suleiman in the western countryside of Aleppo were also shelled by the government forces amid intense flight of Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the area.

Areas in the de-escalation zone in the northwest of Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the Ottoman Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
