| #2 I'm sure salamander is a fine officer but the 'comparing this battle and that battle' effort has been responsible for a lot of mistakes. for example, yes there have been successful 'pincer movement' battle plans based on Hannibal's tactic at Canae but many times battles were blown by trying to do this with troops unprepared for the coordination required. |
