Two Electric Buses Spontaneously Explode
2022-05-09
[GatewayPundit] A state-owned public transport operator in Gay Paree, La Belle France, the Régie Autonome des Transports Gay Pareeiens, has pulled out 149 electric buses from its fleet after two of them spontaneously went kaboom! within the same month.

The RATP decided to temporarily retire the electric vehicles after the second explosion occurred around 9 a.m. on April 29 near the Francois Mitterrand Library, according to reporting from the local newspaper Le Gay Pareeien and a RATP news release.

Footage of the bus engulfed in flames in Gay Paree’s 13th arrondissement was widely circulated on social media.

A video by VIXX compiling the viral videos showed smoke emanating from the top of the bus, where the battery is located. The smoke gave way to a kaboom and a shower of sparks that covered the vehicle’s mid-section and nearby areas.

#13  It's all ecologically sound. They're recycling themselves.

#12  .....Or nxt to spent oxygen generator canisters. Sorry, not at all funny.

#11  If SNL was funny they might do a skit about this.

Have a 'stewardess' go thru the two-minute safety, drop-down-oxygen, and exit protocol with every stop. And of course the oxygen for the drop-down masks is stored in the ceiling panels close to the batteries... perfectly safe.

#10  Maybe the bus driver can give us a little egress safety spiel before engaging the clutch. Something like: “Hail Mary full of grace…”

#9  NN2N1,
You catch that EV fire where some brilliant mind found a sand truck and buried the thing?

Take a few seconds. Now, after the combustion you see what most people would think to do when unprepared and ignorant - something I believe we can agree on over the last 2 years - go get some water ASAP and douse the flame..dude was lucky he slipped. Watch how quickly fumes fill that room, and these ain't old campfire smells, this is the same aisle as mtth production fumes. Lucky it wasn't raining.

#7  My son works at a Large Southeastern Metro Fire Station.

They are fighting more and more Electric Vehicle Fires. Thermal Runaway makes fighting the fire really a surround and control process to reduce spreading.

Some places have even put signs up forbidding Electric Vehicle parking near their buildings.

#6  Just imagine being in those things during an EMP strike.

#5  We don't call 'environmentalists' watermelons for no reason. Green on the outside and red inside when they spontaneously combust. The buses were just doing their part to cull as the greenies want to do.

#4  Now that's riding excitement! Imagine you are riding in a bus going over 30 MPH and you have less than ten seconds to egress... or fry.

#3  Well now they can charge extra for the 'thrill' of riding an potentially exploding bus!

#2  I am not a professional civil engineer, but it seems to me that spontaneously exploding is not a desirable property for our public infrastructure.

#1  In the video there was a *pop* in the roof mounted battery pack and within 5-to-6 seconds it had burned through to the cabin. It was a *cough* Energetic Reaction *cough* that looked like a thermite burn -- made me a believer that the technology isn't viable yet, truly.
