Armed festivities broke out yesterday between two Ottoman Turkish-backed armed factions in the Ottoman Turkish-controlled city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeast Syria, which resulted in the killing of a civilian.

Since October 2019, Ottoman Turkish military along with Syrian opposition armed factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA), have occupied the city of Sere Kaniye and its countryside in north of Hasakah, and the city of Tel Abyad and its countryside in north of Raqqa, northern Syria, following a military operation called "Peace Spring".

The two factions of Ahrar al-Sharqiya and Military Police clashed in the village of Mabroukah in Sere Kaniye countryside on the background of a dispute on smuggling, a local source told North Press.

In July 2021, the US Department of Treasury sanctioned the Ottoman Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction "for violations of the rights of civilians and systematic assault on the Syrian Kurds."

The festivities lasted for about an hour, which led a civilian called Thamer Tariha from al-Shaitat clan, to lose his life.
