Texas mother shoots intruder dead after he broke into her home while her three children slept inside

  • A San Antonio, Texas mother shot and killed a man who broke into her home while her three children were inside at around 10 p.m. Thursday

  • Police say the woman - who has not been identified - heard the man break in

  • He allegedly entered the home from the rear through the laundry room, which is apparently adjacent to a public park

  • Once inside, police say, the woman shot the man twice in the chest

  • The alleged intruder - later identified as Roman Rodriguez, 41 - died of his wounds en route to a local hospital

  • The homeowner is not facing charges under the state's castle doctrine, which allows for the use of force against anyone trying to break into your property

#8  In three years, I've seen ONE hitchhiker in the area. One. And nobody paid him any mind. Of course, in the picture above, he'd probably get shot if he tried to get in a car.

#6  It happens a fair amount down here in Texas. I live near a prison here outside Houston and have been asked, "Aren't you nervous?" I researched it and can find no articles about any escapes from the prison. Plus, knowing my neighborhood, any prisoner who did manage to escape is going to run as fast as he can away from our area as it's way too likely they'd get shot by a citizen as opposed to the cops. In reading many of the incidents down here, I've noticed that here, there's very few attempts to hold miscreants for police. If people have to draw, they're shooting to put them down.
