Netflix Stocks Plunge 25% After Streaming Service Loses 200k Customers
2022-04-21
[News9] Netflix suffered its first subscriber loss in more than a decade, causing its shares to plunge 25% in extended trading amid concerns that the pioneering streaming service may have already seen its best days.

The company's customer base fell by 200,000 subscribers during the January-March period, according to its quarterly earnings report released Tuesday.

It's the first time that Netflix's subscribers have fallen since the streaming service became available throughout most of the world outside of China six years ago. The drop this year stemmed in part from Netflix's decision to withdraw from Russia to protest the war against Ukraine, resulting in a loss of 700,000 subscribers.

Even so, Netflix acknowledged its problems are deep-rooted by projecting a loss of another 2 million subscribers during the April-June period.

#8  Snarf snarf snarf snarf.

Apparently the drop is being blamed on everyone sharing log-ins.

Like that hasn't been happening since five minutes into coming on-line, and not stuff like Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

And I'm going to go there. Squid Games was not that great and didn't leave me wanting a Squid Games universe. Don't get me wrong, some moments especially towards the beginning were fantastic The timing and pacing got botched and did character building which paid off in the plot somewhat towards the end, but never really cared about most players or even really the infiltration plot. In short, and just for me, went from Thriller to Soap Opera, and never made its way back to Thriller.

#7  Interesting; framing I saw was, "Elon Musk kicks Netflix while it is down."

Like Cuties and He's Expecting is his doing.

#5  That is something magpie. Not subscribe for 11 months then catch up on everything watchable which couldn't be found somewhere else just at a delayed release.

#4  How many dropped after they discovered they Had watched everything they had missed seeing when it first came out (also oldies and foreign works) and felt no reason to keep paying...?

#3  I dropped Netflix and DirecTV years ago. I refuse to voluntarily put any money in the pockets of people who say I should be in a camp or exterminated. And there's a bunch of them in the "entertainment industry." And no, I am not entertained.

Will be dropping in June/July after we have finished streaming a collection of Japanese/Taiwan/Korean TV Dramas.

Was already ticked off about the sneaky extra $1 they added. Plus now we are hearing Netflix is implementing Youtube-type ads in the near future.

Screw them...
We have Firesticks, modified Roku's, and Kodi-like apps loaded that allow FREE viewing.
