| Landmine explosion kills, injures people in Deir ez-Zor |

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three people, including two children, were killed, and another child was wounded on Tuesday when a landmine left behind by ISIS exploded in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria. “Rawdah al-Sawadi (33 years old), her brother Raed al-Sawadi (12 years old), and Uday al-Ahmad (9 years old), from the town of Khasham, lost their lives in the explosion of a mine left by ISIS in the town,” North Press reported Hattab al-Ahmad, a resident of the town of Khasham, 15 km east of Deir ez-Zor. “The explosion resulted in the injury of a child who was nearby. He was transported to a field hospital in the town of Khasham, and he is in a very critical condition, according to a doctor in the hospital,” the source added. According to the source, “the victims were walking on agricultural land near their house and one of the children found the mine and carried it, which led to its explosion.” The remnants of war are widely spread in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor as it was the last stronghold of ISIS, and they pose a threat to the population and children.
