European and African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... leaders are set to meet later this week for talks. French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with European allies on Wednesday to discuss his country's military engagement in the West African nation of Mali. Government officials in Gay Paree say Macron will make a definitive statement on the matter "shortly after" the meeting. Observers expect an announcement late Wednesday or Thursday. |
