Syrian security forces detain individuals in Aleppo for fear of protests

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Air Intelligence forces affiliated with Syria government arrested, Sunday, 8 people of one family in Tariq al-Bab neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria, accused of calling for protests against Syrian government recent decisions.

Armed forces raided residents’ houses and captured 8 individuals of Hamo family, local source told North Press.

The Air Military Intelligence forces deployed in several places and blocked the road goes to new cemetery inside Tariq al-Bab neighborhood hindered residents’ movement, the source added.

Last week, the Syrian government decided to lift the subsidy through ration cards from a large class of the citizens, which reacted by mass protests in most government-held areas.

The recent government decision faced mass popular discontent among residents, many of them expressed on social media the failure of the Syrian government in managing economic crisis.

Activists in Aleppo city asked the Parliament to vote for no confidence of the government that increases residents’ concerns, particularly after the decision to rationalize bread, which is considered to be one of the basics of living life.

These arrests, coincided protests in Suwayda governorate, southern Syria, accompanied by roads blockade since January 3, rejecting the government decisions to lift subsidy for thousands of families amid calls for protests to continue for other days.
