#1 Well no shit. They run the auction AND they participate in it -- on both sides. And it's totally opaque. Only Goggle/DoubleClick has the data about the bids - which one won, how many there were at other prices, bidding trends etc. It's not shared with anyone. Congress made this legal -- solely in the programmatic advertising industry. Imagine if the trades on NYSE or NASDAQ were opaque, with one market maker only, both running the exchange and controlling both the buy side and the sell side, and never revealing the bid/ask spread for executed trades. That's what our idiot rulers did in the $100 billion + programmatic as industry. Is it any wonder the Bathhouse Admin and Google's exec ranks were a revolving door? 345 WH meetings between the two.
