What happened to Ted Cruz?
2022-01-07 | |
Tucker Carlson used video of Cruz's comments as the keystone of a segment on how Republicans are being cowardly and granting Democrats their false premises on the riot at the Capitol being an insurrection or even a "terrorist attack." As Tucker put it, he was delivering talking points for Merrick Garland.

#17 How you get your ticket punched for the gala. Easy to get caught up in, but not an excuse. Tucker is right, literally a year of rioting with cops being assaulted physically and psychologically and nobody mentions terrorism, even as domestic terrorist initiatives are discussed and buried. FBI puts on a Boot Hill cosplay then turns it over to the tour guides and boom worst thing since Whiskey Rebellion. |

#16 kudos to Tucker for just flat out saying 'I don't believe you'. No one else does either. He's walking it back b/c he knows people saw it and his career is probably over. |

#14 He could have just kept his mouth shut but I guess that's asking a bit much from a politician. |

#13 One man's terrorist is another man's patriot. Good Bye Ted. I'll never support you. |

#12 He wasn't misspeaking. He was pandering. He was groveling. And not to you and me. |

#11 I was a Cruz fan until this. I'll still support him but not blindly and not for President. This just showed a level of disconnect with voters I find disconcerting. |

#10 While Cruz isn't an establishment cuck, I still think he believes that overall it is a net positive force and works to support the parts he believes in. This was just signaling to what he thinks is the libertarians and pro-larger government of the GOP to set up his run for 2024. I doubt he is aware of how much towards small government and anti-establishment the GOP and libertarians have shifted towards and now is covered in the backblast of his very ignorant remarks. This one statement has pretty much doomed any 2024 hopes he had, especially if Trump and/or DeSantis are running and has put a very large hole in his re-election prospects too. I think he will survive re-election, but barely. |

#9 I think of DC / The Beltway as the Borg collective, and Cruz has finally been assimilated. |

#6 Abbott, Pompeo, Trump. Who else? But when the pres & vice pres are impeached by the house and found guilty by the senate in 2023 McCarthy will become pres. |

#3 Bastard should leave Texas and go someplace where a rat bastard like him will be welcome...like California or Washington or New Jersey. |

#1 He went on Tucker tonight to wiggle his way out of the blowback he is getting. He said he always calls people who attack cops terrists for the past 10 years and that he was not referring to Trump supporters. Tucker bluntly told Cruz people who attack cops have never been called terrorists. |
