Back Pay Owed Govt Employees to be Paid: Officials |

[ToloNews] The government on Saturday announced that it would pay three months' worth of overdue salaries to employees in one round. A front man for the Ministry of Finance, Ahmad Wali Haqmal, said that the payments were begun on Saturday. "Only one months' worth will remain unpaid in this fiscal year after we pay the salaries of the past three months. After that we will pay the salary of the next month," he said. According to the ministry, only the employees of the ministries of health, higher education and the academy of science of Afghanistan will receive extra pay for specialized skills. The ministry said that it has collected over 27 billion Afs in revenue from customs and taxes. "The Islamic Emirate collected about 27 billion Afs in revenue. Our income will increase day by day," said Miraj Mohammad Miraj, an official at the Ministry of Finance. Afghanistan relies mainly on foreign aid to support its government institutions and development projects. However the Finance Ministry said that it has been planning to support the national budget with domestic income as the foreign aid is suspended. |

#1 Not just the other third world countries; read earlier this am that US Navy personnel are taking out loans because they haven't been paid. (Sorry - link down the memory whole) |
