The head of the Nangarhar intelligence department, Dr. Basheer, said that these ISIS fighters were active in various parts of the province.
The surrendered ISIS fighters were granted amnesty by the order of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate.
"Today 25 members of ISIS surrendered to the Islamic Emirate," Dr. Basheer said. "In total 250 ISIS affiliates surrendered to the Islamic Emirate in over the past two months. They have been pardoned and they don’t fight against us anymore. If they act against their commitments, they will be punished."
The tribal elders said the villagers would set fire to the homes of those who broke their commitments.
"We took an oath from the surrendered ISIS members that they will not carry out destructive actions. If they try to bother the people and create insecurity or fight against the Islamic Emirate, their houses will be set on fire and they will be kicked out of the country," said Nasir Momand, a tribal elder.
The surrenderers said that they wanted to continue their normal living.
"We were previously carrying out actions against the Taliban
