  • Lafer was originally charged for aggravated assault, a Class C felony, before it was changed to a reckless aggravated assault, a class D felony in May

  • Footage shows Bowers being hit and run over in Johnson City, Tennessee

  • Lafer is seen heading straight at the protester without breaking, knocking him to the ground before driving over him and leaving the scene

  • By the time of his arrest, Lafer had joke about the incident on Facebook

  • Lafer, released on $20,000 bond, is a real estate agent from North Carolina

  • His attorney said 'his wife and his three young kids' were all in the car with him
