#11 ^^ Point of Order: the Constitution states the President must be "natural born". That doesn't mean born in the U.S. It has been interpreted as meaning a candidate must be a U.S. citizen through either birth in the U.S. or through citizenship of one or both parents. McCain - born overseas - acquired U.S. citizenship at birth through his parents and was considered "natural born". |

#10 ^ To American citizen parents That’s the piece I forgot! Thank you, Frank G. about McCain was that the Constitution says that the President must be born in America. Another thing I’d forgotten, Rambler. Thank goodness Rantburgers remember all, since I can’t. |

#7 IIRC, the brouhaha about McCain was that the Constitution says that the President must be born in America. There was no question of his citizenship |

#5 Only good news is that while the base is US, it is not sovereign territory so no german-bred anchor babies. When did that happen? It used to be that American based were indeed American territory — remember the brouhaha about Senator John McCain being born on the one in Panama? |
