All Texans who legally own a firearm can now carry openly in public without permit or training - amid 14% rise in gun violence in the state
2021-09-03
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • New law allows Texas residents who legally own guns to carry the firearms openly without a license or having to complete training

  • It is now the 20th state in the U.S. to allow residents to openly carry a firearm without a permit after after Iowa, Tennessee, Montana, Utah and Wyoming all passed a similar laws this year

  • Gov. Greg Abbot had vowed to make Texas a 'sanctuary state' for gun rights

  • The law comes two years after the deadly El Passo and Midland and Odessa mass shootings that left 30 dead and dozens injured

  • The state has seen a 14% rise in shootings in 2021, with 38 shootings reported this August, a 40% increase in last year
Is that increase across the state. or just in Democrat-controlled cities that are hospitable to Antifa/BLM and gangs?

#14   A Katana typically is a long sword with a length of three to four feet

So don't take it to school, and you're OK.

#11  Oh, you might have some roosters for a while, but will end up being mostly unnoticed.

Then again, we aren't on The Border.

#10  I was in a McDonalds in Texas the other day and a customer had a side iron in a secure holster and no one took offense. No one appeared concerned.

#8  What about openly carrying a katana?

Sure, but not within 1000 ft of school, voting, court, racetrack or airport unless the length is <5.5 inches. Longer, and it's a location restricted knife.

#6  Much like changing the sentencing on Fentanyl usage I suppose. Reduces the head count, perhaps not the body count.

#5  /\ Urban, drug related turf wars and tribal culling. Nothing much done about it in the last half-century or so. Nothing much will likely be done about it in the next half-century.

Roe v Wade is a Gov't legislated and funded auxiliary culling technique. The impacts of it's ending are yet to be determined.

#4  "Gun violence" is code for young black criminals shooting other young black criminals.

Wonder how ban on abortion will affect this?

#2  Unless you are bird or hog hunting in the wilderness, so-called 'open carry' is a recipe for disaster. Just my 2 cents worth.
