#1  My older brother , a Riverboat Vet, told me how he "cleaned" an AK-47: pull the magazine, lock open the bolt, lean over the side and slosh water through the AK-47. If that doesn't 'fix things' then toss it over the side and get another from the pile of guns from captured VC arm caches. But I doubt that was what the author of article would want to hear.
