[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] - Retired Army Lt. Colonel Scott Mann has served multiple tours in Afghanistan
- He and two fellow Green Berets are leading Task Force Pineapple, which he described as an 'underground railroad' of service members rescuing Afghans
- The mission began with an Afghan commando stuck outside of Kabul airport who reached out to the three US military members for help evacuating
- They led him through his perilous journey using encrypted chat messages
- Active service members stationed at the airport have been unofficially lending a hand by jumping into waist-deep sewage to pull Afghans out and other methods
- Task Force Pineapple was named for an image of the fruit that fleeing Afghans would flash on their phone at US troops looped into the mission as a sign
- The pineapple image on their phones mean they have been vetted and guided by Mann and other 'shepherds' who are largely retired veterans helping remotely
- Mann described Afghans being beaten, trampled and shot at in their journey
- He said the next step would be to figure out how to 'move them out of the country unconventionally' without the use of Hamid Karzai International Airport
