Internet outage hits multiple companies |

[Fox Business] Internet outage monitoring website DownDetector.com on Thursday showed connection failures impacting content delivery and cloud service company Akamai, which said the outage was not the result of a cyber attack. Websites for Amazon, Google, Verizon, Delta, HBO Max, Airbnb, AT&T Fidelity, FedEx, UPS, Southwest Airlines, HomeDepot and others may have been impacted across the country and especially in major cities like New York City; Washington, D.C., and Chicago, according to DownDector. |

#4 Akamai Edge DNS (Domain Name Service) went down, rumors of an upgrade gone wrong. Hmm. Since world + dog use this service, they went down too. Sounds like good ol' Single Point of Failure but done at scale. |

#3 Yes, I was expecting this. The new normal. The meat processor in Canada was a practice run. They boasted the next hacking would be more pervasive. Meanwhile chip cards, banks are all being hacked. Chase told a customer it was from Amazon or WIFI. One local bank had 150 customers hacked in one day. Numbers higher for other local banks. So much for going cashless. |
