China Will Not Un-Jam LeBron

[Breitbart] LeBron James’ disgusting China pandering is not going to save his Space Jam: A New Legacy, which is looking like a box office flop.

LeBron James’ Space Jam: A New Legacy died at the domestic box office this weekend with a pathetic $32 million opening (if that even holds). By comparison, all the way back in 1996, Michael Jordan’s original cleared $27.5 million on more than a thousand fewer theaters.

LeBron’s Space Jam sequel also cost $150 million just to produce, and that doesn’t include promotional costs, which easily puts it closer to $250 million.

Plenty of movies die a domestic death at the box office. However, they can still become profitable and declare themselves a worldwide hit, thanks mainly to China’s mammoth box office market, which has saved many Hollywood blockbusters from financial catastrophe.

Well, so far, the communist Chinese have said "no" to LeBron’s Space Jam sequel, and with it currently available on HBO Max, which makes top-shelf pirated copies easy to create, it’s highly unlikely a China opening can save it. But, of course, thanks to pirating, my guess is that everyone in China who wants to see Space Jam: A New Legacy already has.

China’s snub has to really sting social justice warrior LeBron James, the movie’s star and the NBA player who made a public fool of himself defending China’s Nazis back in 2019 after Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted out his support for Hong Kong protesters.

#8  With regard to Russia, it isn’t just Africans, but anyone of darker hue. I have a Bangladeshi friend who went to military school in Moscow, mostly to get away from his bossy eldest brother, and he spoke of prejudice as expected and experienced. On the other hand, he did end up marrying a brilliant blond, blue-eyed Russian classmate, so it wasn’t universal.

He did say the prejudice he experienced in Germany in the first half of the 1990s was much worse, so there’s that.

#5  Similar feelings, though not widely publicized exist in Japan. Local criminal activity (rape, kidnapping, murder, that sort of thing) involving US service personnel are usually responsible for bringing it to the surface.

Japan tolerates a US military presence out of necessity. If they were to acquire a nuclear capability, there would be no necessity. Just my opinion.

#3  Another little known fact and Wiki half-truth. Could be titled 'WOKE' and the 'Cancel Culture' the early years:

WIKI - From 1951 to 1959, a secret ban was imposed by the Icelandic government on the stationing of black US troops in Iceland. This ban was disclosed in late 1959. The Icelandic government relented somewhat from this policy in 1961, when it declared that it "will not oppose the inclusion of three or four colored soldiers in the Defense Force, but hopes that they will be carefully selected". The number of black troops increased gradually throughout the 1960s, and all restrictions were most likely unofficially withdrawn in the 1970s or 1980s.

On 15 March 2006 the U.S. Ambassador to Iceland announced the decision of the United States to withdraw the Iceland Defense Force before the end of September 2006. On September 30, the American military withdrew its final four Air Force fighter jets and a rescue helicopter squadron from Keflavík. No, there was no "Secret" ban. Nor was there any "most likely withdrawn" local policy. Confinement to the base was mandatory. And yes, the Russians are still smiling.

#2  /\ Russians same-same. A long story primarily involving Russian military institutes and African students in the 1980's and Russian military advisors in Angola and elsewhere. Having said that. Yes, academic origins of sorts but likely goes well beyond difficulties with math.

The feeling is pretty well mutual, but seldom mentioned anywhere. Wash D.C. based Howard University is the only Historically Black University with a Russian Studies Program. Howard University offers a Russian language minor which includes coursework in the areas of history, social sciences, and culture.

No explanation for the Howard program or it's funding sources should be necessary.
