Ex-Joint Chiefs Chairman Mike Mullen: 'Incredibly disturbing' that military leadership reportedly feared Trump coup
2021-07-19
[Yahoo via Job Vacancy] The current chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, had bluntly described his concern that Trump would use America’s armed forces to overturn the 2020 election, according to excerpts released of an upcoming book, “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker.
Excerpt from Milley book:
"They may try, but they’re not going to f***ing succeed," Milley told his deputies of a possible coup, according to CNN’s account of the book, which will be released Tuesday. "You can’t do this without the military. You can’t do this without the CIA and the FBI. We’re the guys with the guns."

#15  I watched the entire interview Sunday. IMO Mullen didn’t have a bad thing to say about Milley. He seemed vaguely supportive of Milley.

#14  I think that if the SHTF, people who are "just following orders" won't last long.

#13  "We're the guys with the guns." Be afraid America, be very afraid...

You think they and their families live on compounds? They live on the economy. Why do you think the cops in those other countries are so ineffective? You fire up Americans like the Brits did at Lexington Commons, there will be no safe place beyond the compound walls.

#12  If we ever have a real president again, day 1 he should reduce every 2 star and up to private, etc, then have them patrolling the streets of Mogadishu with empty weapons.

#10  Projection. It's a specialty of the Democrats.

#9  I do have to ask if Gen. Milley's favorite ice cream flavor is Vanilli by any chance?

#8  They all live in a couple rich zip codes around Washington DC. Rounding them up won't be difficult.

#7  There was a coup. It was successful.

#6  Actually it was incredibly stupid they feared a Trump coup.

#5  The good general is looking for an extension of his current tour or a posting to the CIA, CIA Think Tank, or the Deep State Department. He has no intention of leaving the beltway or well moneyed assignments. Few of them want to leave. They are ego bound. The power and influence are simply too great. It's D.C. Their question is always 'what do I have to do to remain in the club?' Previously loyalties are fungible.

"New day, new handler."

#4  At this point I think about half the country thinks Milley is a traitor, the other half thinks he's a war monger. His only support is the beltway crowd, for now. Watch in future interviews he will be dressed in civilian clothing.

#3  "You can’t do this without the military. You can’t do this without the CIA and the FBI. We’re the guys with the guns."

aka - we're the palace guard of Deep State.

BTW, guess who has more guns than you do? The founders wanted it that way. Note well, the Taliban doesn't have F15s or nukes. How are you doing on that front?

#2  You don't become a general without being political.

#1  Wasn't the post-election narrative about Trump himself being forced to leave the Oval Office by the military for refusing to leave? Call me illogical but both notions can't be right.
