2021-06-16
[Washington Examiner] Coffee has many known health benefits. It is proven to promote energy levels and improve overall aspects of brain function, including mood, memory, and reaction time. Drinking coffee has been linked to reducing the risk of many health issues. Multiple studies conclude that consuming up to five cups of coffee a day has been associated with reduced death rates.

#14  In perfect reverent seriousness, thanks for the reminder that even if I'm not buying green bananas, I damn well need to be working a longterm kidney stone plan. When my immensely pain-indifferent dad was stricken in the middle of the night, he got to the ER as quick as my mom could drive him. Amazement all around.

#13  I have had kidney stone attacks off & on for many years. I had been camping in NH and was driving back to OH when I had another attack. I was in the middle of nowhere. I had noticed super strong brews of coffee tended to relieve body aches, so I pulled off the road and brewed a super strong pot of coffee, downed it quick and somehow was able to keep driving. I found a Kmart about 30 miles down the road, bought some Aleve and Tylenol, took regular doses of both. Within about 30 more minutes, my kidney pain was substantially (but not totally) relieved. I was comfortable enough to continue to drive home. 12 hours later I was pain free, so the stone had probably passed by then. During the worst attack of my life, 15 years earlier, I received IV morphine with very little pain relief.

#7  Just a personal observation. I call myself a gleaner. I have for many years collected bits and pieces of information. I had a cup or two of coffee every day and had a heal ache so thinking I was getting two much uric acid I stopped my coffee routine. In a day or two my memory was less responsive to recollection. My heal no longer hurt. So I reintroduced a cup of coffee and almost instantly my memory returned quite remarkably. This is an odd habit I have. I like to test things out.No cream or sugar. Great anti inflammatory as well- eyes, ears, nose and throat. Well, the warmth alone helps also.

#6   #5. It should be, since it keeps me from killing people. I only drink two cups a day. Of course, they're each 28 ounces. . .

In 1969, my physician ordered me to drink coffee for the rest of my life, so that it would "stimulate your metabolism" to keep the weight off.
Thank you Doctor Tetreau for the added bonus.

#1  I roast my own. Get the raw green beans shipped from Sweet Maria's out of Oakland ( I know...I know) Works out to about $6.50/lb and you wouldn't believe the taste. small, home sized roaster does about 1/2 pound at a time and only takes 15 mins.
