Too timid? Experts worry pursuing lab-leak theory may upset U.S.-China relations |
2021-06-16 |
A chorus of public health experts and commentators are warning the U.S. to tread carefully in pursuing the COVID-19 lab-leak theory, lest an aggressive investigation worsen already strained U.S.-China relations. Largely ignored and disparaged by the press and the scientific community over the last 18 months, the lab-leak theory has received an explosion of interest starting several weeks after Joe Biden's inauguration in January. A growing number of scientists, writers and government officials have ramped up pressure to mount a thorough international investigation to determine whether or not the SARS-Cov-2 virus leaked from a Chinese coronavirus lab located in Wuhan just a few miles from the first reported outbreak of the virus. |

#9 US death toll passes 600,000 I wonder what the recalculated number will look like a year from now, when they’ve pulled out all those dying with COVID, leaving only those who actually died from it. Not that China doesn’t deserve getting raked over the coals (after being flayed and rolled in salt) just for trying, but it will be nice to know. |

#6 The Japanese killed about 2400 Americans at Pearl Harbor, and we reduced Japan to smoking rubble. Whether accidental or a-purpose, a CCP bioweapon just killed some hundreds of thousands of Americans. But we don't want to antagonize them. The lesson is that the Japanese needed to spend more money buying US politicians, newsies, and business tycoons. If they had, we would have been told to view Pearl Harbor in its proper cultural context and to eschew thinking racist thoughts about the Japanese. |

#4 Something I recently read: If loss of live from air crashes, sinking ships, and train wrecks are investigated in an effort to determine causes and prevent reoccurrences, then why not COVID-19 ? Perhaps I ask too many questions and should simply realize, much is beyond my understanding. |

#3 A snowflake at the CFR speaks up: "Among the experts making that argument is David Fidler, a senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations. He told Maxmen that the U.S. is continuing "to poke China in the eye on this issue of an investigation," something that's distracting from the need to "get ready for the next pandemic." |

#2 "Experts" are worried about the truth of the 2020 election, thus every obstruction possible (and illegit) thrown to make the count transparent. |

#1 .....might jeopardize the secretive regime's cooperation in both finding the source of COVID-19, as well as preventing or mitigating future pandemics. Should read 'cooperation in covering up the origins and details....' |
