planted IEDs on the main roads.

Meanwhile,

Abbas Tawakoli, commander of the 217th Pamir Corps, confirmed that the vehicle was identified by security forces before it could reach its target.

Tawakoli stated that the blast followed festivities between Talibs and Afghan cops, which were repulsed by security forces.

Due to the blast, many soldiers were killed and wall of the military base were destroyed, Abbas Tawakoli added.

He said, "The security forces operation has been slowed down due to the roadside mines in Baghlan-Samangan highway."

Taliban has grabbed credit for the blast.
Tolo News adds:
“The base was also a recruitment center for the army,” the source said, adding that “some parts of the base have been destroyed in the blast.”
