The report said the move marks "a significant shift" from New Delhi’s position of not engaging with the Taliban in any way. |

| #1 We've always had 'open channels' with all players here. An overt recognition of the coming hardliner regime was not necessary, and will not go down well with other parties. But you take what you can get, hedge your bets in this ongoing charlie foxtrot. |
