Judge calls man, 27, who helped burn down Minneapolis police station in George Floyd riots a 'good person who made a terrible mistake' as he hands down four-year prison sentence and $12M fine
2021-06-09
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Bryce Michael Williams, 27, was sentenced to federal prison and ordered to pay $12million in restitution for burning a Minneapolis police building last May

  • Williams and three other men, Davon De-Andre Turner, 25, Branden Michael Wolfe, 23, and Dylan Shakespeare Robinson, were protesting George Floyd's murder when they lit and threw Molotov cocktails at a he police building

  • All four men were sentenced to federal prison

  • Judge Patrick Schlitz handed down Williams' sentence and called him a 'good person who made a terrible mistake', but denied Williams' request for probation because he said the defendant was a leader, 'not a follower', in the attack.

#11  After a full decade, the cost per year drops to less than a Starbucks habit, KBK. Go for a new machine.

#10  I agree, with Brave I can read the Mail. Maybe I need to compromise and use Brave for that and similar surfing. But, for serious work, I need the good bookmarking that Firefox has, so right now, that's my daily driver.

I'll note that Safari may be passing FF, one of my complaints is the broken tab grouping on FF, and Safari seems to be introducing a new tab group feature.

The other complaint I have about FF it the immense amount of memory it takes. I only have 4GB on my 10 year old Air.

OTOH, I can't update the Air to Big Sur, so it may be time to install Linux on it and buy a new Air.

#9  And, no, Your Honor. It was no mistake. Arson is a serious felony ranking just below murder. Mr. Williams needs to go bye-bye for a lot longer than four years.

#8  Since I switched to Brave I'm able to read the Daily Mail.

#7  Lets hope nobody makes a 'tragic mistake' and burns the good Judge's house down.

#5  I tried Brave, but its support for bookmarks was really abysmal (bad UX), so I dropped it.

#2  What is the point of the 12M$ fine? Williams will never have 12M$. Oh, maybe the court planned to grab the GoFundMe that he's likely to get in sympathy for being abused?

234 items blocked by AdBlock Plus on that page, which is about ten times more than a typical site. Guess I'll have to use my phone. Firefox w/o ABP is too slow on Mac OS, but for some reason an iPhone can handle it.
