#16  Basically an Austrian-Spanish (w/ German running gear) ASCOD IFV w/ a 40mm Brit-French gun. ASCOD has been operational for 20 years and should not be experiencing these problems. Not a lot of American mechanical anything except ownership.

The Ajax, formerly known as the Scout SV (Specialist Vehicle), is a family of armoured fighting vehicles being developed by General Dynamics UK for the British Army.

The Ajax is a development of the ASCOD armoured fighting vehicle used by the Spanish and Austrian armed forces. The family was originally developed by Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug and Santa Bárbara Sistemas in the early 1990s. Both companies were purchased by General Dynamics in the early 2000s.

#8  Why are we having a foreign company build these? Had the same problem with the Belgium made M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). They were a complete piece of shit and I had to carry a baggie of feed tray springs with me as they would constantly pop out when shooting and jammed the thing.

Once Colt took over the production those problems became fewer, but the design is still iffy.

#5  The Ajax is not a tank...it's an infantry fighting vehicle...tanks have a much bigger gun and much heavier armor.
