Pro-Iranian militias in Syria's Deir ez-Zor receive reinforcements
2021-05-30
[NPASYRIA] On Saturday, militias backed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), received new military and logistic reinforcements in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, which is under the control of the Syrian government forces.

"Eight trucks loaded with medium and heavy ammunition, in addition to logistic materials entered Syrian territory," Khaled al-Hassan, a pseudonym for a member of Liwa Fatemiyoun, told North Press.

"These reinforcements were provided by the IRGC-backed Iraqi Popular Mobilization to Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba and Liwa Fatemiyoun in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor," he added.

The trucks entered Syria through illegal crossings in the vicinity of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor near the Iraqi border, and they were put in the designated warehouses for food materials of the IRGC, according to the source.

The aim of these reinforcements is to fight ISIS sleeper cells and to enhance the militias’ influence in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, as well, the source noted.

These trucks will be unloaded and then the materials will be distributed to the headquarters and military points, as well as the ammunition depots in the eastern and western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The trucks were patrolled by Liwa Fatemiyoun and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba when entering the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

On April 11, the pro-Iranian factions in eastern Syria, received logistic and military assistance.

Those reinforcements consisted of Hummer military vehicles, medium and heavy machine guns with ammunition, in addition to medical and first aid materials, according to local sources.
