Former TOLOnews anchor dies in unidentified gunmen attack

[ToloNews] Former TOLOnews anchor and media official at the Ministry of Finance, Nemat Rawan was killed in an unknown button men attack in Kandahar province on Thursday.

Security officials told the media, that he was assassinated in PD14 of Kandahar city, and two suspects were involved in carrying out the attack.

The unidentified button men are still on the lam and have escaped the area after gunning down "Rawan".

It is reported that the attackers also stolen his phone.

According to TOLOnews, Rawan’s work with the media outlet had finished about three weeks ago before he joined the Ministry of Finance as the media official.

On November of last year, famous journalist, Yama Siawash, was targeted in a magnetic IED explosion.

Siawash was killed in the blast in the Maroryan-E-Char area in PD9 of Kabul City.

Yama Siawash with three other people was reported dead in the earth-shattering kaboom, according to ANP, the earth-shattering kaboom happened at around 7:45 am on Saturday morning.

The Magnetic IED targeted the journalist and two others inside the vehicle.

There are no reports of the maimed in the incident.

The renowned journalist previously worked as Tolo TV’s political Program anchor, he was well-known for his journalism in the political field and was working for Da Afghanistan Bank (Central Bank) after resigning from TOLOnews.

Violence against journalists has raged in Afghanistan, unfortunately, many media professionals and workers were murdered since the US-Taliban agreement in February 2020.
