State Sen. Jay Morris’ (R-Monroe) carry bill passed a Senate committee and will soon go to the entire Louisiana Senate for consideration. #3 I'd be willing to bet that Edwards would not have vetoed the bill unless he were certain of an override. The guy walks a tightrope better than any acrobat. (No relation to the earlier and far more entertaining former Gov. Edwin Edwards.) |

#1 From Wikipedia: He is a United States Army veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division, reaching the rank of captain. As of 2021, he is the only statewide elected Democratic official in Louisiana. Edwards is considered by many political observers to be a conservative Democrat. West Point grad. Up for reelection in 2022. I think it’s a sure bet he’ll have a serious Republican challenger. In the meantime, can the Louisiana senate muster a veto-proof majority on this thing? |
