AIHRC: 79 civilians killed, wounded in Afghanistan over the past week

Afghanistan Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said Monday that at least 79 non-combatants were killed and maimed in 12 during separate incidents.

According to AIHRC the non-combatants were killed and injured in Farah, Parwan, Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces.

AIHRC further elaborated that at least 39 non-combatants were killed and more than 40 people were maimed during the battles across Afghanistan.

According to the Watchdog among the killed are four women and eight children, the commission also added 17 children and four women are also among the injured.

AIHRC blamed the Taliban

and unidentified forces of Evil for causing the casualties, and that IEDs, roadside kabooms, armed attacks are the main causes for the casualties.

This comes as the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission’s annual report indicated that over 8,500 non-combatants were killed and injured due to war and violence since 2020 and that including 3,000 civilians killed and over 5,000 people are injured because of war.

Based on the report, civilian casualties in Afghanistan have decreased by 21 percent compared to 2019.

Taliban have not yet commented for being blamed in causing civilians casualties.
