| #11 The military has trained medical personnel at inner city trauma centers for many years. Most realistic training outside of a war. Also, advances made during war time also feed back into civilian trauma care. As for commuting: MRAPs, remote weapon stations optional. |

| #6 The best knee surgeons in the world during the late 20c were in Belfast, home to the IRA and its practice of kneecapping anyone they claim is a Loyalist spy, agent, whatever. Maybe the best ER/trauma surgeons of this century will be trained in Southside and Westside Chicago. |

| #4 Military medic people have also been trained at some Indian Health Service facilities, very relevant for situations they may encounter around the world. |

| #3 I remember some years ago when Special Forces Medical NCO training at Fort Sam Houston was forced to curtail the use of dogs (dog lab) for surgery training. The hue and cry, oh the humanity of suffering pound inhabitants. |
