UN to Reduce Aid Operations in Borno, Nigeria After Attacks |
2021-04-13 |
[All Africa] The United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... has condemned attacks on its facilities and on aid workers in the troubled area of Damasak in Borno State, allegedly by members of the Islamic State ![]() Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... of West African Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... . During the attack, compounds belonging to multiple relief agencies and warehouses containing humanitarian stock, were looted and set alight. This is the second attack targeting humanitarian staff in the past two months. Damasak has repeatedly been targeted by ISWAP faceless myrmidons who have made several attempts to overrun a military outpost outside the town. Due to worsening security conditions, humanitarian workers in Nigeria are struggling to provide aid. President Muhammadu Buhari reshuffled the military command this year, raising hopes of a shift in strategy to end the conflict that has killed 36,000 people and forced around two million to flee their homes. |
